Integrated Systems Biology Laboratory, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University is seeking highly motivated post-doc researchers with a background in machine learning, image processing, and/or signal processing. You will participate in the national project (shown below) with our members from various backgrounds including mathematical engineering, machine learning/artificial intelligence, computational neuroscience, and robotics. Our laboratory is also collaborating with International Research Institute for Neurointelligence, the University of Tokyo (IRCN), Advanced Telecommunication Research Institute International (ATR), RIKEN Center for Brain Science (RIKEN CBS), and other international laboratories.

Postdoctoral positions (~2020.2)
We are seeking a highly motivated post-doc researcher with a background in computational neuroscience and an interest in reinforcement learning.
We are conducting a research project, “Brain Mapping by Integrated Neurotechnologies for Disease Studies (Brain/MINDS; up to 2024/3/31; http://brainminds.jp/en/)” This project aims to reveal a neural basis of decision making and the other cognitive functions based on brain activity data (electrophysiology or Ca2+ imaging) from marmoset/rodent brains.
The candidate will work on this project under a collaboration with experiment teams of RIKEN Center for Brain Science (RIKEN CBS).
For this position, basic qualifications include PhD in relevant fields with a proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and/or Japanese.
You will participate in the project with our members from various backgrounds including computational neuroscience, systems biology, bioinformatics, mathematical engineering, and reinforcement learning.

Postdoctoral positions
We are seeking a highly motivated post-doc researcher, with a background in 3d/bio image processing and/or computational neuroscience.
We are conducting research projects, “Brain Mapping by Integrated Neurotechnologies for Disease Studies (Brain/MINDS; up to 2019/3/31; http://brainminds.jp/en/ ; Phil. Trans. R. Soc. B 370: 20140310),” and “Brain Information Dynamics underlying Multi-area Interconnectivity and Parallel Processing (Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas, MEXT, Japan; up to 2022/3/31).” Those projects aim to map the structure and function of neuronal circuits to understand the vast complexity of the human/marmoset/rodent brains.
The candidate will work on the projects on 3D reconstitution of marmoset brain atlas from 3D microscopic images (from EM and/or Optical) under collaboration with experiment teams.
For this position, basic qualifications include PhD in relevant fields with proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and/or Japanese.
You will participate in the project with our tenure track and post-doc researchers from various backgrounds including computational neuroscience, systems biology, bioinformatics, mathematical engineering, and machine learning.
Our laboratory is also collaborating on daily basis with Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), University of Tokyo, Okinawa institute of science and technology (OIST), RIKEN Brain Science Institute, and other international laboratories.
